Nearly 80% of the children in the United States have played a musical instrument. While many children play a musical instrument once or twice, a number of them will not stick with this new hobby. The only way to help your child get good at playing the saxophone is by taking practice seriously. If your child never practices the saxophone, it will be difficult for them to get any better over time. Most children are not very motivated to sit down and practice. Setting a firm practice schedule is crucial when trying to help your child stay dedicated. While your little musician might give you some pushback at first, they will eventually thank you for your effort. 

Learning how to control your breath is a large part of becoming a great saxophone player. If you want to help your child enhance their breath strength and control, then encourage them to play and hold long notes every time they practice. As they play these notes, you need to listen to ensure they are consistently loud and strong. The longer your child practices this exercise, the stronger their lungs will inevitably be.
